Bonjour tout le monde!

Nous nous retrouvons aujourd’hui pour un second shooting réalisé en novembre dernier en Espagne et cette fois-ci, je retourne à Barcelone à la rencontre de Xavier, un sympathique libraire vivant à quelques rues de la célèbre Sagrada Familia.

Hello everyone! 

Today we’re back together for a second shoot that took place last November in Spain, and this time I’m heading back to Barcelona to meet Xavier, a friendly bookseller who lives just a few blocks from the famous Sagrada Familia.

Xavier et moi nous connaissions d’Instagram, il m’a toujours soutenu dans mon travail et j’ai eu envie de le photographier rapidement tant sa gentillesse et mots me touchaient. Nous nous sommes rencontrés pour aller dans son appartement. Xavier tient une librairie en ville et chez lui, il possède une collection incroyable d’ouvrages qu’il lit souvent avant de les proposer à la vente. Nous avons parlé de ses goûts littéraires, de livres traitant d’homosexualité mais aussi de nos vies respectives on a ri et même pleuré, les échanges furent réellement passionants. 

Xavier and I knew each other from Instagram, he’s always supported me in my work and I quickly wanted to photograph him, so touched was I by his kindness and words. We met to go to his apartment. Xavier runs a bookshop in town, and at home he has an incredible collection of books, which he often reads before offering them for sale. We talked about his literary tastes, about books dealing with homosexuality, but also about our respective lives, we laughed and even cried, the exchanges were truly fascinating.

Cette séance est la suite logique du calendrier “Des hommes…des ours” réalisée l’an dernier pour l’association bear Loom 34. J’ai beaucoup apprécié donner à des hommes moins représentés en image la possibilité de l’être enfin. Xavier prouve qu’une fois encore, tous les âges méritent cette séduction face caméra et il a été autant enthousiaste que réceptif à mes idées. Travailler avec lui a été simple et fluide, nous avons commencé par le salon où il a joué avec le mobilier autour de lui puis dans sa chambre où il s’est montré plus joueur, j’ai senti qu’avec lui je pouvais aller vers quelque chose de plus sensuel et je lui ai donc proposé d’explorer son corps.

This session is the logical continuation of the “Des hommes…des ours” calendar produced last year for the bear Loom 34 association. I really enjoyed giving men who are less represented in images the chance to finally be. Xavier proves once again that all ages deserve to seduce on camera, and he was as enthusiastic as he was receptive to my ideas. Working with him was simple and straightforward, starting in the living room where he played with the furniture around him, then moving on to his bedroom where he was more playful. I felt that with him I could move towards something more sensual, so I suggested him to explore his body.

J’avais avec moi mon prisme me permettant de jouer avec la lumière environnante, les images plus osées restent donc douces et moins frontales ce qui était important pour moi, je voulais rendre cet acte artistique avant tout. Xavier a joué le jeu et j’en suis ravi, il m’a emmené explorer quelque chose que je n’avais pas réellement exploré moi-même auparavant pas de cette façon là et je lui en suis très reconnaissant.

I had my prism with me, allowing me to play with the surrounding light, so the more daring images remained soft and less frontal, which was important to me, because I wanted to make this an artistic act above all. Xavier played along and I’m delighted; he took me to explore something I hadn’t really explored myself before, not in this way, and I’m very grateful to him for that.

C’est une direction que je pense explorer un peu plus, comment rendre le sensuel plus sensible et je me sens prêt mais aussi plus légitime à faire cela. It’s a direction I’m thinking of exploring a little more, how to make the sensual more sensitive and I feel ready but also more legitimate to do that.
